The quality of UV curing machine is related to the properties of UV ink

2023-12-12

Nowadays, there are more and more manufacturers using UV ink printing, which also extends the development of UV curing equipment. With the continuous improvement of UV curing technology, the characteristics of UV curing machines are fully demonstrated. When considering the quality of using a UV curing machine, we also need to pay attention to the properties of the UV ink itself. The quality of a UV curing machine is related to the properties of the UV ink.

1. UVLED printing requires high surface strength of paper, and insufficient surface strength can easily cause burrs. When printing with gold or silver cardboard, due to the smooth surface of these types of paper and their low affinity for ink, UV ink can easily pull off the first color of ink when printing the second color. Therefore, in UVLED printing, paper with high surface tension should be selected, color sequence should be arranged reasonably, and relevant process parameters in the printing process should be adjusted to avoid and reduce the occurrence of the above phenomena.

2. Choose different inks based on different substrates, and they should be suitable for each other. When using UV curing lamps, the transparency, curing rate, covering ability, and surface gloss of the ink should be comprehensively considered.

3. The use of alcohol based plate wetting system can reduce the surface tension of ink, promote curing effect, and during the printing process, the plate wetting solution can be used to strengthen the oil repellent area (blank area) of the printing plate, ensuring that the oil friendly area is fully ink friendly and the hydrophilic area is not inked. Improving the UV ink formula and adding corresponding additives can increase the hydrophobicity of the ink, but excessive hydrophobicity can lead to ink shrinkage at the edges of the image, loss of fine details in the UV LED, unclear dot boundaries, and other factors that affect the quality of the print.

4. In color printing, various pigments have different abilities to absorb UVLED photons, and the transmittance of UV curing lamps varies from high to low as M, Y, C, and BK, resulting in different degrees of curing for each color of ink. The transmittance directly affects the excitation energy of photons on photoinitiators. Therefore, it is advisable to arrange the printing color sequence into BK, C, Y, M, so that ink with poor transparency can absorb as many photons as possible and enhance its curing effect.
